• The huge influx of new users it encouraged caused bandwidth issues for Gentoo.

• Full installation could be completed in under an hour!
• 2004, marked a change from the dot releases.
• 2004.0 released February 28, 2004.
• Daniel Robbins, the creator and founder, resigns from Gentoo.
• Despite that work continued. 2004.1 was released shortly after that news, dot 2 in July and dot 3 in November.
• September 2005, the first Gentoo Council was elected.
• Daniel Robbins makes his glorious return to the project!
• This lasted about 8 days before he resigned again.
• Other developers joined Robbins.
• Stability questions around the stability of the Gentoo Project
• October 2009, a LiveDVD release.
• 11.0, released in 2011.
• In 2015 A new website was announced! After the air was cleared, an actual NEW website.

History Series on Text Editors - GNU Nano

• Dave Taylor's Elm Mail System
• Laurence Lundblade and his cohorts were looking for something that had ease-of-use written all over it.
• Enter, Pine. The [freeware-like](wayback.archive.org/web/20001201215500/http://www.washington.edu/pine/overview/legal.html) answer.
• "freeware-ish" label wasn't good enough. So, in 1999, Chris Allegretta, made changes to address that.
• TIP, which stood for TIP Is not Pico, 0.5.0 README.
• 2016 Looking for a new maintainer.
• Still looking
• Nano leaves GNU in 2.6.0
• Debian acknowledged and accepted the change.
• Come back to GNU in 2.7.0.
• Latest release August 2, 2022.
